Look at any postcard of the German or Austrian Alps and you’ll find scenery that any visitors of Berchtesgaden will immediately recognise: high snow-capped peaks, verdant green glades (or “Almen” in local parlance), traditional mountain towns and bright, clean, fresh air. While there are other, just as beautiful Alpine settings to be found in Germany, Berchtesgaden is one of the most-well known – and for good reason. If you’re looking for a great mountain MICE experience, without foregoing any sort of creature comfort, Berchtesgaden and the surrounding area is your place of choice.
As with most of Bavaria, the best time to come is late spring right through to mid-autumn, as well as the deep winter months for that fantastic Alpine snow experience. From the 5 star superior luxury hotel above the town with excellent meeting facilities, to 4 star superior spa properties and many boutique hotels, there truly is something for every MICE group. Incentive travel is where the region truly shines. Outdoor lovers can find it all with some of the best teambuilding facilities and providers found in the Eastern Alps. The alpine scenic roads are perfect for extensive classic car rides. Vintage vehicles are not to your participant’s taste? Grab a fleet of modern Bavarian sports cars instead and enjoy the panoramic routes of Alpine Bavaria and Austria at speed. Gourmets will find plenty of satisfaction in the region, offer everything from traditional to the very modern cuisine.
Salzburg, city of music and elegance, is a mere half hour coach ride away. Enjoy the home town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with quaint historic streets, sweeping palaces and the high rock fortress overlooking the city. The Austrian capital of the region of Salzburger Land offers its own, vast selection of fantastic venues, high-class restaurants and grand hotels.
There really is little reason to say no to such a selection of possibilities, so as they say in Upper Bavaria – pfiat’s Eich in Berchtesgaden!
The lake of Tegernsee and the surrounding region comes straight out of a picture book – Alpine lakes, deep blue and pristine, ringed by mountains, glades and quaint Bavarian towns. Sailing yachts and tour ships glide across the crystalline waters and the lakes glitter in the sun. However, don’t let all that serenity fool you – Tegernsee is a bona fide MICE destination, offering a plethora of possibilities for small and medium-sized groups.
With the exception of the slightly less ideal months of November, March and April, Tegernsee is a year-round destination, sunny and fresh in late spring, warm in summer and crispy cold and snowy in winter. Hotel offerings abound, from the stately five star luxury hotel on the lake shores, to 4 star design properties nestled against the hillsides and a selection of both modern and traditional boutique hotels. Meeting space can be found in spades, from hotels to the Bachmair Arena conference centre.
Activity options for MICE groups are aplenty – fancy a round of golf at Margarethenhof, one of the highest courses in the land? Just stay at the adjacent 35 suite hotel for an added dash of luxury. Take mountain bikes and ebikes for an exploration of the countryside with many well-blazed trails, enjoy culinary delights at the local cheese manufacturers and high-end schnapps and whisky distillers, or take an action-packed teambuilding programme in beautiful surroundings. Winter brings it’s own delights – snow and ice offer a memorable surrounding for successful incentives, and there a wonderful opportunities for fun in the snow.
At just over an hour away from Munich International Airport and less than hour from Munich city, Tegernsee is a unique destination at your fingertips for a memorable MICE experience.
